Profile

TRI was founded in 1961 as a Consulting Engineering firm with emphasis on rotor-bearing dynamics (vibrations of rotating shafts and oil film bearings). This includes the design of Babbitted film bearings for high-speed rotating machinery, from small compressors to the very largest steam-turbine generators.

TRI developed very sophisticated computer simulation programs to model complex rotors and oil film bearings in order to evaluate sources of rotor vibrations in all types and sizes of rotating machinery. Since 1971, with this capability, TRI engineers travel to plant sites to identify customers' problems, and then design and manufacture film bearings and other equipment to solve those problems.

TRI has two specialized product lines: (1) Variable Speed Fluid Drives up to 40,000 hp, and (2) TRI Align-A-Pad® Bearings up to 24-inch diameter, as well as fixed bore bearings, along with many associated products.

TRI's engineering and manufacturing facilities are located in a 22,000 square foot facility in Lionville, PA (near Phila, PA) with substantial and adequate CNC and specialized machine tools and centrifugal Babbitt Casting machines – up to 70-inch OD. Using our own shops, TRI controls our own designs and manufacturing quality.

TRI has gained an outstanding reputation for being able to solve a number of very important rotor vibration and bearing damage problems, both technically challenging and commercially significant. Many of these innovations have been awarded US Patents. In some cases, TRI has provided consulting engineering solutions and recommendations for building major portions of electrical power generating plants and water handling facilities.
