Sharing Best Practices in Planning and Executing a Successful Turnaround

Speaker Bio
Amy Odom started her career with Martin Marietta Aerospace in New Orleans, testing thermal protection systems for the Space Shuttle’s external fuel tank. After the Challenger disaster, Amy worked on Failure Modes and Effects Analysis as part of the accident investigation team. Amy left Martin after the return to flight effort was successful.

Amy spent 19 years working for Eastman Chemical in Longview, TX, developing and testing low density and linear low density polyethylenes and working with external customers to provide improved products and technical service. In 2000, she received a patent for developing a clear, high strength polyethylene for use in packaging applications such as ice bags.

In 2008, Amy moved to Baton Rouge to take a reliability engineering role at Shell Chemical in Geismar, LA. She spent six years at Shell, working in reliability, projects and as the economist for their Norco, LA plant.

In June 2014, Amy returned to Geismar to work for BASF as the Asset Effectiveness Engineer for Polyol and moved to the role of Asset Manager supporting Polyols North America in January, 2018.
